Our story
Built from the
Field Up
Ram Urethanes was founded by someone who spent years in the trenches of general contracting — and saw firsthand how the right coating could make or break a project.
From General Contractor to Coating Specialist
Before Ram Urethanes existed, our founder spent over a decade working as a general contractor — managing large-scale commercial and industrial builds from the ground up. It was demanding, detail-driven work that demanded accountability at every stage of a project.
On job site after job site, one pattern kept emerging: coatings were an afterthought. Subcontractors applied whatever was cheapest, inspectors signed off, and within a few years the calls started coming in — delamination, chemical failures, containment breaches. The cost of cutting corners on coatings was always paid later, and always at a premium.
That frustration became a mission. Rather than continue managing projects where coating failures were someone else's problem, our founder stepped away from general contracting to build something better — a company that would treat industrial coatings as the critical infrastructure they actually are.
The foundation
Two Companies. One Expertise.
Roofing Coatings
Protecting structures from the top down
The first venture after leaving general contracting was a roofing coating company focused on commercial and industrial roofs. Flat roofs on warehouses, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers were failing prematurely — not because of poor design, but because of inadequate coating systems. We built a business around spray-applied polyurea and urethane roof coatings that extended roof life by decades, eliminated seams, and dramatically reduced maintenance costs for building owners.
- Spray-applied polyurea and urethane systems
- Seamless, waterproof membranes over existing roofs
- Commercial and industrial flat roof restoration
- Reduced lifecycle costs for building owners
Secondary Containment
Keeping hazardous materials where they belong
The second company grew out of a clear need in the industrial sector: reliable secondary containment. Facilities storing chemicals, fuels, and hazardous materials were operating with aging concrete berms and linings that were cracked, porous, and non-compliant. We specialized in designing and installing high-performance urethane and polyurea containment linings that met EPA and SPCC requirements — protecting the environment and shielding facility operators from regulatory liability.
- EPA and SPCC compliant containment linings
- Chemical and fuel-resistant urethane systems
- Retrofit linings for existing concrete berms
- Tank farm and chemical storage protection
Why Ram Urethanes
Running two coating companies gave us something most coating manufacturers never have: real-world feedback from the field. We knew which formulations held up under continuous chemical immersion and which ones failed at the seams. We knew what applicators needed to work efficiently and what product characteristics caused callbacks.
Ram Urethanes was built to close that gap — a coating manufacturer with a contractor's perspective. Every product in our lineup was developed with field performance as the primary specification, not just lab data. We make coatings we would have trusted on our own projects.
What drives us
Our Core Values
Field-Proven
Every formulation is tested against real-world conditions, not just laboratory benchmarks.
Technically Honest
We publish real performance data and won't oversell a product for an application it wasn't designed for.
Contractor-Minded
We understand application conditions, job site timelines, and what it takes to get a coating to perform in the field.
Long-Term Thinking
We measure success in decades of service life, not just the day the coating cures.
